Mine Countermeasures Mission Package
NAVSEA

Pictured are the integrated suite of unmanned maritime systems and sensors of the Mine Countermeasure Mission Package (MCM MP), created to couter-act mines in the littorals while increasing a host vessel's standoff distance from the threat area. A vessel with these units onboard can conduct the full spectrum of detect to engage operations against mine threats using sensors and weapons deployed from the Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) and the MH-60S multi-mission helicopter, the most advanced of which is the AN/AQS-20, the pride of the MCM MP community.
While I served as the Combat System Lead Engineer and Test Engineer for this program, I led the planning and execution of the test and evaluation for 8 separate test events at several dynamic locations, working directly with the engineers and sailors to coordinate the best possible circumstance for testing. This involved developing several large scale embarkation efforts and working with ship engineers to ensure safe movement of sensitive equipment, followed by leading full underway sailor led operations with engineering direction and oversight to complete each task for a given event. All engineering matters were led and addressed by me while I went underway with the system and its supporting crew, seeing this program to its success.
In my countless hours working hand in hand with the impeccable team of system and project engineers, we accomplished such great strides test after test, optimizing and improving in each and every stage the technical engineering, the field operation, and the tactical planning. Each time we needed to redesign and manufacture the Surface Tow Cradle recover device, repair and resolve technical and tactical concerns with the USV, or conduct massive 24 hour operations, we found opportunities to become the most potent engineers and testers we could, knowing we would be able to accomplish our goal of full scale production with the declaration of initial operational capability.
